Our School

Supportive & Nurturing K to 7 Grade School

Taking Control for Success in Life. At Murrell School, our motto is more than just a slogan; it's an essential part of the programming we provide to our students. Embedded in all of our lessons is the teaching of socially acceptable, safe and appropriate behaviors and social skills. For every student entering our school, our goal is to provide a therapeutic environment that promotes the attainment of these skills in order for them to make a smooth, successful transition back to their schools of zone.

Families and students we serve often have had negative school experiences. Parents and students may have the expectation that Murrell School will be yet another setting for failure. Some students with exceptionalities face hurdles that are often magnified in the typical school setting. Negative social and behavioral issues are often a result of poor academic performance due to behavioral issues. As a result, students struggle with negative feelings about school and themselves.

Murrell's faculty and staff attempt to put all of the puzzle pieces together to provide the conditions necessary to give these students the assistance they need to meet their individual challenges. While we believe that disabilities may always be a challenge to our students, we do not believe that they should be a roadblock to success in life.

By combining research-based practices, we establish individual programs for each student. Our partnership with Centerstone provides group and individual therapies, psychiatric services and case management to increase our program's effectiveness. Additionally, we maintain daily contact with parents to let them know about growth and concerns.

Achievement in academics, social and emotional skills, behavior and self image all go hand-in-hand in preparing students for a transition back into their schools of zone. This allows them to take control of their own destiny to find success in life.
